Most popular series of Love Island ever causes huge surge in Majorca holidays and sales of merch

Hit ITV show, Love Island, may be influencing more than just our love lives - as new data has shown that it’s also influencing our wallets. Data released today from online deals site, Wowcher, has revealed a 73% year-on-year increase in the number of units sold of Love Island inspired merchandise, along with a 32% spike in trips to Majorca.

As viewers of the show have increased, so have sales of Love Island inspired water bottles, sunglasses, towels, flip flops, and even bean bags; inspired by those used by the contestants in the villa. The UK’s top three Love Island-inspired products, according to sales, are:

  • Water Bottles
  • Solar Powered Lights
  • Beanbags

The show has also inspired a significant spike in sales of Majorca holidays this June- with a massive 32% increase in bookings to the island since last year.

Alexis Harrison, Head of Marketing at Wowcher, said: “The influence that Love Island has had on Brits this summer has been astounding. Since last year, we have seen a significant increase in not only the sales of Love Island inspired merchandise, but also an increase in the variety of products that fans want to get their hands on.

“Whilst Majorca has always been a popular summer holiday destination, it’s clear that the fun and sunshine in the villa has inspired even more holidaymakers to experience the island in 2019- and we don’t see the excitement dying down!”
