Educate Yourself

Learning to educate yourself properly will help set you up for success during your fitness journey. One of the biggest impediments during your fitness journey is confusion with the industry’s technical terms. You can perform a simple Google search to find out what the term means. For instance, you see the word “isometric exercise” and you don’t understand what it means. Therefore, you want to type the following into the Google search engine:

   Isometric exercises, definition

From there, you will see the following definition pop up from Wikipedia:

Isometric exercise or isometrics are a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction. Isometrics are done in static positions, rather than being dynamic through a range of motion. Wikipedia

Educate yourself with dependable information. This way, you will learn to how to train and how to fuel your body based on your goals. The body is a dynamic chain, and all mechanisms are connected. They are adaptive to almost any kind of environment we put them through, however, if you don’t push yourself, your body will not change.

There is a very strong connection between injuries in one body part leading to an injury in another. Visualization can help you to achieve your goals, especially when you begin see and feel the possibility of reaching them. When you have the right mindset prior to beginning a new fitness journey is critical to your success. Visualizing yourself achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself can be very powerful thing. There will be many times when we try to sabotage ourselves while participating in our own fitness journey. This tends to happen because we don’t have enough faith in ourselves and in completing your goals.

Many people start out on a new fitness journey with negative thoughts about themselves. These kinds of thoughts and doubts can be destructive, unproductive, and will ultimately lead to failure. By replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, you change the chemistry of your brain, allowing you to focus on the good coming from living a healthy life style. You won’t be able to stop all negative thoughts, but you can change how you respond to them.

Stop occasionally and remind yourself that you are worthy and that you can accomplish your fitness goals. The more you are reminded about your fitness goals, the more likely you will work towards them. You should consider keeping a daily or weekly journal as it helps to reinforce your goals keeping you on track for all your fitness needs.

Try not to look too far into the future and don’t fear failure. The amount of time and investment you put in on your fitness journey is up to you and that can be a lot of pressure on you. It can also be empowering, as there are few things we control in life besides our attitudes and bodies.

At the start of any race, some people burst out of the gates with seemingly unlimited drive. The same people who started the race off with reckless abandon are usually picked off through injury and exhaustion, ending up quitting altogether. On the other hand, the people that paced themselves effectively came out successful.

Motivation comes and goes, but when you focus on building effective habits and routines, you are able to get things done even when you don’t feel like it. Huge goals can seem unattainable at first, but after you break them down into smaller actions, you can be consistent with them in the long-term.
