CBD oil is one of the best natural supplements around, as its enthusiasts would heartily admit, and there’s no denying that it has indeed helped a lot of people with their ailments, be it depression, chronic pain, or epilepsy. But there is another compound which has been garnering plenty of attention from scientists, researchers, and enthusiasts alike, and in many ways, it is similar and has similar benefits to CBD: we’re talking about CBG, of course, and if you haven’t heard of it yet, it’s time you found out more about it. But what makes CBG different from CBD, and what are their similarities? Here’s everything you should know about CBG oil and CBD oil: the similarities, uses, and benefits.

  • Both compounds come from the marijuana or hemp plant, with the main difference being that CBG is actually referred to as the mother of cannabinoids because it is the original material that comprises cannabinoids like CBD as well as THC.
  • Both compounds can interact with the endocannabinoid system of the human body. This means that they can affect various ailments or conditions and contribute to relief from pain, anxiety and stress, mood swings, and other functions. And while scientists are still trying to work out how the whole process works – how both CBD and CBG interact with the system in the first place – they already know that the two compounds can affect the body because of its interaction with this system.
  • Both compounds are also associated with more than a few therapeutic or relieving effects. For example, both CBD and CBG may be able to assist with pain relief and relief from depression and anxiety, but scientists think there is a degree of overlap between the two. In some respects, CBG may be better. In addition to this, both compounds may be able to help improve the health of the skin, offer protective benefits to the neurological system, and assist in cancer management as well.
  • Another distinct similarity between the two compounds is that both are not psychoactive. Unlike their cousin, THC, both CBD and CBG do not have any effects on someone’s mind and don’t produce that feeling of being stoned which is commonly associated with THC.

It’s important for everyone to note, however, that despite all the similarities between the two, they are still two quite different cannabinoids, with one producing CBD oil and the other producing CBG oil which may actually be better for inflammation and be more potent dosage for dosage. There is also some evidence showing that the two, when taken together, may be more therapeutic compared to being taken individually, and this is referred to as the entourage effect.

The conclusion

The research done on CBG is still in its infancy, it can be safe to say that the compound may well be able to provide some unique benefits. These benefits, as already mentioned, include relief from pain, the relaxation of muscles, relief from depression and anxiety, improvements in bone and skin health, protection for the neurological system, and help in the management of conditions like an overactive bladder, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer.
