Geraud’s Urban Beach brings International delights to Plymouth Piazza on Wednesday 24 August

The International Street Market which has swept Scandinavia with a feast of foodie fun is on its way to Plymouth with its biggest offering yet, Geraud’s Urban Beach. Around 25 traders will be setting out their wares on the Piazza, but not in the usual fashion – stalls will be replaced with brightly decorated beach huts, to give the event the perfect summer twist.

The market will be running for 11 days from 24 August until 3 September and will be free to enter. Run by Groupe Geraud, the largest market operator in Europe, Geraud’s Urban Beach programme is a unique twist on the International Street Market that they have been running successfully across the UK, Sweden and now Denmark.

This will be their third visit of 2016 and the Geraud team hope to build on the previous success of the events held in March and June.

The food offer ranges from crepes and cakes for those with a sweet tooth, to barbecued treats for those craving a meat feast. Visitors will be able to sit and relax with a cocktail from the Brazilian Beach Bar, or sip a glass of Sangria and enjoy Paella and Churros.

One of Geraud’s largest events this summer, the Urban Beach is set to light up the Piazza. With something for all the family, stalls will be selling the best of the continent’s delights, before the international caravan of cuisine moves on to its next tour location.

John McInnes of Geraud says: “We are excited to bring the European experience of the International Street Market to the Plymouth public again. It’s been a big hit in Europe thanks to the atmosphere and buzz it creates and I look forward to it being well received again by the people of Plymouth.”

Jon Walton, City Centre Manager, said: “Shoppers along the Piazza will be able to enjoy all the sights, smells and tastes of this bustling international market.  It all adds to the unique offering of the City and one of the reasons that Plymouth is growing as a destination of choice for so many.”
