The annual guide to Devon’s vibrant and growing food and drink scene has launched.

Food Drink Devon is packed with insight on the county’s best producers, shops, cafés, restaurants, farmers’ markets and much more.

Regarded as the essential and most up-to-date reference for Devon’s food and drink scene, the guide comes complete with detailed listings and maps, so foodies can easily find where to shop and enjoy the very best food and drink Devon has to offer.

Annually 30,000 free copies of the guide are distributed throughout Devon and beyond by Food Drink Devon members in leading hotels, cafés, restaurants, shops, Tourist Information Centres and food and drink producers at events.  A digital version is available at www.fooddrinkdevon.co.ukor email admin@fooddrinkdevon.co.ukto be sent a copy.

Barbara King, chair of Food Drink Devon, says: “Devon is a hotspot of exciting new and established food and drink brands formed by driven entrepreneurs passionate about what they do.  We have an incredible diversity of products, from chocolate to charcuterie and craft ciders and beers to gin, along with rapidly growing businesses selling to national and international markets.  With the creativity, vision and energy shown by the sector, it’s no surprise to me that Devon is seen as a place of innovation and recognised excellence when it comes to food and drink.”

Barbara adds: “The launch of the guide is always one of the highlights in Food Drink Devon’s calendar.  This year is no exception as we’re thrilled to unveil its new look and feel, with a fresh layout making it easier for readers to navigate.  It not only offers those living in Devon and visiting the county an in-depth overview of what to eat, where to eat and where to buy and support local producers, it also creates a network for Food Drink Devon members to help them succeed and grow.”

With over 250 Devon-based members including cookery schools, hospitality and catering businesses, speciality retailers, farmers’ markets and producers, Food Drink Devon is the county’s only dedicated membership organisation supporting quality, sustainability and provenance in the sector.

Whether you’re planning a gastronomic tour of the county or simply want to keep up to date on the region’s foodie news and hotspots the guide, which has over 60 pages, is the perfect place to start.  Produced in a handy pocket size, there’s also a convenient round up of food and drink events for the year including food fairs, festivals, shows and farmers’ and community markets, so you can easily make sure you don’t miss a thing.

Promoted by national ‘foodie’ journalists and at industry events in London the guide is also available in The Executive Lounge at Exeter Airport, Great Western Railway’s 1st Class Lounge at Paddington, Gloucester Services and selected South West Trains’ stations throughout the county.

David Page, Food Drink Devon board member, said: “Think Devon and you shouldn't just conjure up its stunning countryside and marvellous coastline - the sheer pleasure of its high quality food and drink should naturally leap to mind.  Devon's lush green pastures, rich arable land and dramatic coastal waters provide the origins for an unbelievable range of magnificent foods - fresh fish and seafood, meat, dairy, wonderful pies and pastries, and a splendid array of fruits and vegetables packed with fresh natural flavour.  All of these delicious local products are widely available through Devon’s well-stocked farm shops, farmers' markets and tempting local specialist shops in many towns and villages.  Increasingly restaurants and pubs too boast of the high quality of their food - and it's all local!”
