The Anchor Inn gives its backing to Devon’s food and drink campaign

The Anchor Inn in Ugborough is giving its full support to a campaign that champions some of the best restaurants and food and drink producers in Devon.

A special BBQ month to promote the leading initiative ‘Devon Restaurant Month’ is being organised by The Anchor Inn as part of a month-long series of events in June.

Food and Drink Devon will work in close partnership with ‘Devon Restaurant Month’, bringing together businesses from across the county to raise awareness of award-winning food and drink and helping to increase their custom in the process. As well as Food and Drink Devon, it also has the backing of Taste of the West, Heart of Devon, Visit Devon and Visit South Devon.

A dedicated website (www.devonrestaurantmonth.co.uk) has been created to promote all the events this year. Customers can also get full details of each event in their local area by ‘liking’ the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/devonrmonth) or following developments on Twitter @devonrmonth.

The Anchor Inn will be holding a special beach party themed evening on 28 June at the end of their BBQ month.

Lucy Searle, Events Manager, at the South Sands Hotel and The Anchor, says: “We are delighted to be supporting Devon Restaurant Month. We are a new revamped business and are committed to providing the highest quality food and drink for both the community here and customers from further afield. Our unique wood fired oven means we can have a BBQ feel whatever the weather, every day of the year.”

Jeff Cooper, Founder of Devon Restaurant Month, adds: “Once again, the level of support and interest in this initiative has been excellent. We are now seeing some of Devon’s finest eateries coming up with creative, interesting and innovative ways to attract more customers to their business through this campaign.

"We have a wealth of high-quality, award-winning food and drink produced in this county and although times are still very hard for many businesses, it is really encouraging to see the amount of effort being put in to ensure that they stay at the top of their game.”

The idea behind the campaign is to increase the level of custom in food and drink outlets across Devon during the month of June, which is traditionally a quieter time between Easter and the main school holidays.
