The nationwide search for UK parents to share their proudest moments has seen a Plymouth resident crowned as the winner.

Amber Goddard, has won ScS’ proudest parent competition after entering a photo of her beautiful baby daughter, Beatrice.

Sofa and carpet specialist, ScS, launched the competition to celebrate the moments that fill parents with the most pride, and have been inundated with entries.

Amber was up against truly heartwarming competition including; a 5K charity star, a singing sensation and an encouraging comrade, but Amber was chosen as the competition winner after submitting this breathtaking photo of her daughter at just 13 weeks old.

Amber shared her inspiring story: “Beatrice is our Rainbow daughter as last year my husband and I lost our son Mylo at 21 weeks. We had struggled to conceive so when we found out in 2017 that we were pregnant again, it was fabulous news!

“The pregnancy was fraught, I was regularly in and out of hospital and eventually had Beatrice early at 33 weeks pregnant. She went through difficult days in the Special Care unit, she was so tiny but so perfect. She has spurred me on through difficult times and is my biggest accomplishment in life.”

On winning, Amber said:  “Since becoming a mum something within me has truly changed. I have never been happier than I am now and, as the competition suggested, I feel pride every day that I wake up and get to see our gorgeous girl smile. I love sharing our story and our photos of Bea always seem to make people happy so it seemed like a good idea, even just so I could feel proud. I never imagined winning - but that just makes it even better.

“I like to think our story is an interesting one and I always talk about both our children because awareness is really important of both child loss and rainbow babies. Premature babies have such a fighting spirit and it’s so lovely to have lots of happy moments to share. It makes me so happy to think that Bea has spread joy to others too and winning means that we can continue making happy memories as a family.”

Having been crowned the winners of the Proud Parent competition, Amber and her family will receive a £150 Virgin Experience Voucher to spend on a day out where they can make even more memories.

Amber continued: “There are so many fabulous family days out in Devon and Cornwall so we would love to spend the voucher on a trip to The Eden Project and Glamping.”

Vicki Burns, Communications Executive at ScS, said: “We’re delighted to announce Amber as the winner of our Proud Parent competition. We received some fantastic entries to the competition, it certainly was emotional looking through some incredible moments but Amber’s story touched our hearts.

“We hope that the voucher will pave the way for the whole family to create some lasting memories, they definitely all deserve it.”

A selection of some of the other entries that Amber was up against are below.

Danielle Waine, from Manchester, shared this moving image, saying: “My daughter completed a 5k for charity, she’s type 1 diabetic and her blood sugars dropped near the end but she insisted on finishing so drank her hypo treatment while jogging the last bit. It was a super proud moment, nothing stops my girl.”

Rebecca Docherty, from Willenhall, submitted this photo of her son looking very proud to be graduating from nursery. She said: “My little boy graduated last week, he has suffered from delayed speech and he made me so proud when he sang the songs at his graduation.”

Jade Waites, also from Plymouth, entered this stunning photo from her graduation day. She commented: “This is the day I graduated from university after four years of studying. As a single parent with no parents myself, my son was my rock throughout my time at university and I wouldn’t have got through it without him. I couldn’t be prouder of what we have together.”
