The Plymouth Military Wives Choir will be singing side by side this week as they perform at Vue Plymouth to celebrate the release of new film Military Wives.

As the inspirational story hits screens on Friday 6th March, the choir will be there to entertain customers and give a preview of what they will have in store.

Now with over 2,000 members, the Military Wives Choirs Charity has become a global phenomenon. Music played an important role during World War 1, both in the trenches and back at home. It was extremely important for the troops, who would sing for solidarity and to boost morale. The choirs continue that theme, bringing women in the military community closer together through singing to support Forces families.

All choirs have their own identity and all share the same love of music, fun and friendly ethos which bring women together. The Plymouth Military Wives Choir Charity is so excited to get involved in a local event that celebrates a film which tells its history.

The Plymouth Military Wives Choir says, “Plymouth Military Wives choir is a place where ladies can relax. It’s a safe place for some ‘me’ time. We lift each other up and bond through singing. We aren’t just a choir, we aren’t just friends, we are family. We’re so thrilled to be performing at Vue Plymouth and show local residents who we are and why we do what we do. The film is incredibly exciting and all of us at the Military Wives Choir is pleased that the story is being told to viewers nationwide.”

Military Wives follows a group of women who come together as their partners serve in Afghanistan. Together they form the very first Military Wives choir, helping each other through some of life’s most difficult moments and becoming a media sensation and global movement in the process. With direction from Peter Cattaneo (The Full Monty) and performances from BAFTA winner Kirstin Scott and BAFTA nominee Sharon Horgan, the picture is set to be a feel good crowd-pleaser.

James Ashcroft, general manager at Vue Plymouth says, “We’re really looking forward to having the choir come in and sing for us. The charity plays a vital role in the community for those with military connections so we’re glad its story is set to be told on the big screen. After the performance, customers will feel fully immersed in the film and get truly lost in the tale of the military wives choir, all within the ultimate seat, screen and sound at Vue.”
