Plymouth man's 'wheelie' long ride for children with clefts

Julian Woolley, a 25 year-old data analyst from Plymouth, will be undertaking the 252 mile cycle over the Easter weekend, along with his old University friend James De Cothi – which will take approximately 2-3 days to complete.

Julian and James cycled to Paris together last summer over 4 days. Having enjoyed the cycle to Paris, this year they decided to set themselves the new challenge of cycling to Brussels. They originally set themselves a fundraising target of £300, but managed to hit this target within just two days – so have raised the bar to £500.

Julian says: “We are covering 3 countries in 3 days on 4 wheels to help raise money for Smile Train, which provides free cleft surgery and comprehensive cleft care to children in developing countries.

"So starting on Good Friday, we will slip into some lycra and pop our cheeks onto our saddles for a swift 252 mile journey from Maida Vale in London to Brussels in Belgium.

"Every pound you donate will bring us closer to providing a child with the chance to have life changing surgery to correct a cleft lip and palate. £150 is all it takes to cover the cost of one surgery.”
