After last year’s success, SSG Training and Consultancy organised a second annual Easter Egg donation for local children’s charity CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids). CHICKS provides free, life changing respite breaks for disadvantaged children from all over the UK with centres in Devon, Cornwall and Derbyshire.

SSG team members and course delegates donated over 70 Easter Eggs. The Easter Eggs were handed out to the children at the Moorland Retreat (Devon) on the 24th March 2016.

‘CHICKS is a fantastic charity. They will be taking in more than 60 children at their South West centres over Easter. Although this is only a small gesture of chocolate, we all know how much it was appreciated. This is a simple way to help the children create new and exciting memories and to our support for the charity and the children they provide respite care for.’ Kim Moody, SSG Client Relationship Manager.

Rod Webb-Taylor, Operations Manager says ‘We, (and I do mean the children), are hugely appreciative of the kind donation of Easter eggs again this year. When the young people left on Friday it was great to see them with their photos of the fun and games in one hand and an Easter egg in the other hand. The staff had to round up all the children’s coats and bags etc. as obviously the eggs and photos were the most important items to hang onto!

More eggs were taken to meet with the collecting referrers or families, so that siblings and other children known to the referring Social Services, who would have missed out, also had the benefit of the generous donations. Bringing a smile to a child’s face is one of the greatest things we do, and your Easter eggs have helped make that smile wider (and chocolatey) even on going home day.

Many thanks from all the staff, volunteers and of course the children on their CHICKS respite breaks over Easter.’
