ODILS Learning Foundation chosen as a select organisation featured in the official History of Parliament Trust Commonwealth at 70 commemorative album
ODILS Learning Foundation CEO, Cassie Roberts and charity trustee, Lillane Uwlmana were invited to attend the prestigious London event last night (25/06/19). The Commonwealth at 70: From Westminster to the World book launch at Westminster Abbey.
ODILS Learning Foundation has been chosen alongside a small handful of companies and organisations nationwide to profile in the commemorative album. The Plymouth based charity sits alongside the likes of AT&T and P&G UK and Ireland with a piece titled: Words Of Belonging. Great support was shown by Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport, Luke Pollard who gave a shout-out to ODILS on Twitter.
ODILS works with refugees, asylum seekers and the BAME sector to deliver English Language Education, Professional Training, Employability & Citizenship Preparation, and Community & Social Integration. ODILS Learning Foundation recognises that refugees need help to build new lives, starting with English lessons.
The charity believes in holistic learning for successful integration and works step-by-step with their students as they walk their education and integration journey together. ODILS Learning Foundation was specially selected for The Commonwealth at 70: From Westminster to the World as it was felt that the charity’s extensive work needed showcasing. The album brings together key stories of best practice acting as a springboard for further debate and prompting discussion on all aspects of the member states.
Upholding values of equality, diversity, faith, hope and acceptance are pivotal to ODILS growth and success to date. Such values reflect well the modern commonwealth and The History of Parliament Trust therefore sought to ensure ODILS was profiled in their celebrations of The Commonwealth At 70.
The History of Parliament Trust is a research project that is creating a comprehensive account of parliamentary politics in England, then Britain, from their origins in the 13th century. The Trust is regarded as one of the most ambitious, authoritative and well- researched academic projects in British history.
It is a great honour for the city of Plymouth, as a whole, to be represented within the commemorative album and a breakthrough achievement for ODILS Learning Foundation, their students and team.
