Paul Driver, from Torpoint, will be running for Migraine Action in this year’s Truro Half Marathon, supporting the 1 in 7 people across the UK affected by migraine.
Paul said, “My daughter, Olivia, and her future husband Jeri suffer migraine. This year I attended a presentation day in Exeter with my daughter, by Migraine Action, which opened my eyes, and gave me an in-depth view of what people have to deal with on a day to day basis. I found myself talking to friends and customers and had never realised just how many people have different forms of migraine. I have seen how it leaves people shattered, in pain and worst of all misunderstood by those around them. My commitment to raising awareness here in the southwest is not only because of family, friends and customers, but the simple fact, that not enough people are talking about migraine. Motivation to get out of bed on a wet Sunday morning, to get my training miles in has never been so high, and if it sparks one person to help raise awareness then my job will be done for now.”
By taking part, Paul is hoping to raise £750 to help Migraine Action continue to provide support, advice and information for over 8 million people across the UK affected by this highly misunderstood neurological condition.
Simon Evans, Migraine Action’s Chief Executive, said:
“We are absolutely delighted that Paul has chosen to support Migraine Action. We answer thousands of calls on our helpline every year from migraine sufferers, as well as teachers, parents and medical professionals. Without all our amazing fundraisers, we simply wouldn’t be able to provide this help so desperately needed!”
