National children’s charity CHICKS has launched a groovy new dance-themed fundraising campaign called Dance the Day Away.

The campaign invites community groups, businesses, friends, families and schools to fundraise for CHICKS by holding their own dance-themed fundraising event on a day of their choice.

All the money raised will help CHICKS provide free, week-long respite breaks to children living in some of the most difficult circumstances across the UK.

Ella Gilling, star of CBBC’s The Next Step, is proudly supporting the campaign. She said: “Dance the Day Away is all about having fun and raising money by dancing. CHICKS is an incredible charity to get involved with and have fun!”

The campaign has already received celebrity endorsement since launching yesterday across social media. Harry Judd, member of the band Mcfly tweeted: “Dancers, Mums, Dads, anyone! Just got tweeted this!  What a great idea. Check it out.”

Kayleigh Young-Valentine, Events Manager at CHICKS, explained: “Dance the Day Away is the perfect campaign for schools, businesses or families who have busy schedules but want to support CHICKS and of course love dancing!

“Once registered, we’ll send you a full fundraising pack containing everything you’ll need to plan your event for a day of your choice and raise funds for CHICKS, including sponsor forms, posters and dance tutorials from Ella Gilling and her sister Charlotte.

“Whether you want to organise a whole school disco, full day Zumba-thon or hour-long front room boogie, as long as you supply the moves, we’ll supply everything you need to raise funds for CHICKS!”

Ella added: “Even if you can only spare an hour and dance like a Dad no one cares…this campaign is all about having fun with dance and supporting CHICKS!”

Every pound raised by the Dance the Day Away campaign will help to support children and young people aged 8-15 who are living in poverty, suffering the effects of bullying, abuse or bereavement or coping with the responsibilities of being carers.

Kayleigh added: “We know that children's lives have been enriched because of the support they receive from experienced staff on CHICKS week-long respite breaks in the South West and Derbyshire; self-esteem rises, life skills are improved and positive friendships built.

“We’d like to say a huge thank you in advance to all those who register to take part in Dance the Day Away and support CHICKS vital work in 2019. We can’t wait to get grooving with you!”
