The Morrisons Foundation has donated £16,000 to Care for Kids North Devon, a charity that helps families who have a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

The support from the Morrisons Foundation will fund the refurbishment of cubicle 4 at the Caroline Thorpe Children's Ward.  The much-needed grant will transform this individual bedroom, making it a more comfortable place to stay for children who need to spend longer periods on the ward. This includes lining the walls with a protective material and livening it up with bright colours and fittings.

In addition to this, children will also be entertained with new wall mounted smart TVs, games console and digital art on the walls, making their stay on the Caroline Thorpe Children’s Ward a more positive experience.

Charity Founder and Trustee, Jacky Massos, is overwhelmed by the amount The Morrisons Foundation is donating. Jacky says: “When I shared the news with our other trustees one of them was in tears. It’s a massive boost for our fundraising campaign, and we are so pleased to be able to make a start on the project in this New Year. The Caroline Thorpe children’s ward is used by thousands of children every year, many of whom will spend time in Cubicle 4. It will make a big difference to their experience on the ward, at what can be a very frightening time for them and their families.”

Adrian Horsley, Morrisons Foundation Advisor from the supermarket’s Head Office said, “I’m really pleased that we were able to help such a great charity.  Knowing that our support will make a genuine difference children receiving treatment and their families really does make me proud. Helping local charities is at the heart of what the Foundation is all about and I’m so happy that we can provide this grant.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.  Since launching over £26 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
