Local innovative renewable heating company Minus7, announces the appointment of new Chief Executive Officer, Hamish Wilson a resident on the Isle of Wight.

Minus7 located at Clarence Boatyard in East Cowes, design and build a unique renewable heating system; the first of its kind in the UK. Winner of Energy Efficient Product of the Year 2014, the Minus7 Endothermic System delivers premium energy management via a complete building-integrated heating solution. Made to measure energy collecting Tileplanks are used to create an integrated and responsive roof for the property which is the only energy-harvesting product on the market designed specifically for the UK climate.

With a varied professional background, new CEO Mr Wilson has worked all over the world. Formerly involved in oil exploration in Alaska, South East Asia and the North Sea, he is a leading expert on oil and gas exploration strategy and performance and consults at senior executive level for a number of the World's largest oil companies.

Alastair Hunter – Chief Technology Officer, Minus7 said: “We are delighted to welcome Hamish to the board of Directors and he brings a wealth of skills and experience to the company. Hamish’s interest in renewable energy grew from his oil exploration works, and his position with Minus7 focuses on rapidly commercialising a suite of innovative renewable energy technologies. As a company, Minus7 provides a unique and bespoke product. The energy collecting Tileplanks are easy on the eye, keeping the aesthetics of the build true to its original form. Essentially, using a Minus7 heating system is resourcefully green, design friendly and investable.”

The Minus7 system enables residents to heat their homes for on average of approximately £300 per year. With the Tileplanks enjoying an expected lifespan of over 35 years, this safeguards against dramatic rises in future energy costs.

The latest project by Minus7 was for Poole Housing Partnership (PHP) where the company designed and installed a unique energy efficient system for a pair of two new build semi-detached homes. The properties were built by award-winning independent builders C G Fry & Son Ltd., best known for the internationally renowned Poundbury Development in Dorchester with The Duchy of Cornwall. The new builds were developed in response to the growing demand for energy efficient homes in Poole, and the results of the Minus7 system will be closely monitored for future PHP projects.

The company has spent six years proving the technology and getting all the commercial certifications. Looking forward to the future of Minus7 and the direction of the business since Mr Wilson’s appointment, the company is seeking capital to roll out these technologies in the UK market initially, before taking them global.

Mr Wilson said: “The Company is dedicated to supplying customers with a desirable, intuitive and functional product that challenges conventional methods of harvesting natural energy. I live on the Isle of Wight in a 1930’s Art Deco Town House with Endothermic tileplanks installed by Minus7, so can speak from first-hand on the huge benefits and cost savings of this innovative heating system.”

He adds: “Minus7 is at a very exciting stage and now we are ready to go for it! The product has the potential to revolutionise heating both nationally and indeed internationally. We are island based and part of the island community and are planning to expand our manufacturing facility in East Cowes as the business grows.”
