SW creatives host new interior design show at Plymouth's Royal William Yard

A team of second-year BA (Hons) Interior Decoration, Design & Styling students from Plymouth College of Art recently welcomed interior design traders and guests from associated industries to the first dedicated interior design trade show at Ocean studios, in Royal William Yard, Plymouth.

The event, which was planned and delivered entirely by students of the college, featured prestigious exhibitors including audio visual equipment supplier The Pyramid Group, contract fabrics and wallcoverings suppliers Sekers, leading UK tile stockist Mandarin Stone, and Britain's leading silk specialist company James Hare.

In total more than 70 guests attended the event, including local architects, interior designers and designer-makers from the South West. Attendees enjoyed complimentary drinks donated by Plymouth Gin and New Lion Brewery in Totnes. Free canapes were also available, made by students from food donated by Waitrose.

The event generated positive feedback from all who attended, and students used the opportunity to network with industry contacts and plan future collaborations. The event was so successful that the students intend to run it again next year, continuing to forge connections across the South West and draw attention to the potential for interior designers in Plymouth.
