When Welsh bride Elin Russell-Hughes fractured both wrists just 10 days before her planned wedding in New York City, the fashion-conscious bride thought her big day was going to be ruined as she sported two blue casts that did not match her wedding dress.

However award winning Plymouth business Cover My Cast quickly came to her rescue providing a choice of black, white and nude covers to wear on the day.

In a testimonial that every bride to be should keep by her side "just in case" Elin explains what happened, "Every girl dreams about their perfect wedding day and I was 10 days away from mine. Me and my fiancé were eloping to New York to get married at City Hall, no fuss, just the two of us.

"My family and friends weren't about to let me go quietly and threw me a Hen weekend to remember. On the first night of the hen do it happened, I had a twerking accident which resulted in me breaking both my wrists.

"After a good cry over a bottle of gin and the initial panic was that I wouldn't be able to fly I decided that a couple of broken bones weren't going to stop me.

"At A&E we had a good giggle and picked out a light blue plaster (something blue) which would be changed to white to match my dress and split before I flew to give space for my arms to swell during the flight. At my next appointment however the consultant decided it was best to keep the blue casts as the initial swelling had gone down enough to allow room during the flight so now, not only did I have two broken arms in plaster....the plaster was blue and I was getting married in four days.

"At this point I started having a meltdown. I'm very fashion conscious and realised that everything I'd bought didn't fit the casts or didn't go with blue.

"I searched the Internet and found the Cover my Cast website. Initially I ordered black covers (which would go with most stuff) and decided on nude ones for my wedding dress.

"The next day I'd changed my mind (as we women do) and decided the white covers would go better with my dress so I emailed Cover My Cast owners Marion and Bob to ask if I could change the order and explained my predicament.

"The response I got was fantastic; they not only sent me the black and white covers but they also sent me the nude ones as a gift so that I'd have the best options to choose from on the day. They even left the labels out so that nothing would show through plus they arrived the next day. I decided on the white ones and when I put them on with my dress I was really pleased, they almost looked like part of the outfit. The black ones went with all my other outfits too! For the first time since the accident I felt really happy and confident, the excitement about getting married returned.

"We had a wonderful time in New York, I wore all three covers, including on my wedding day and for our nights out on Broadway and I felt great and perfectly co-ordinated."

Marion from Cover My Cast comments, "We were delighted to help Elin out so she could enjoy her special day. We have a wide range of covers available in all sorts of different prints and colours and the washable covers for casts and splints are not only fun and attractive but help to keep the plaster clean and smooth preventing it from snagging on clothing, furniture and bedcovers.
