Neighbourhood policing teams are urging residents and businesses in the Whitleigh area of north Plymouth to contact them about local anti-social behaviour and drug and theft crimes after the recent arrest of five people.

After an increase in reports of anti social behaviour and acquisitive crimes in the area, officers including local Neighbourhood teams, drug dogs, detectives and specialist entry teams started to target the area. They conducted two warrants under the Misuse of Drugs Act in Ipswich Close which resulted in three arrests for drug-related offences and the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs. Two other people were arrested for possession of drugs and intent to supply and others were stopped and checked for anti-social and suspicious behaviour.

Lesley Bulley, Neighbourhood Team Sergeant, has urged other local residents bothered by behaviour in their street to get in touch. “We would like to encourage people to report offences and give us information and show that we will act upon it.  By working with partner agencies we want to identify vulnerably members of the community, and assist them with the crimes that they are suffering from.  We will proactively tackle offences that are reported to us”.

Sgt Bulley is based at Crownhill Police Station and can be contacted on 01752 751472 or through the local policing Facebook page: Plymouth North Police
