More than £300,000 of suspected heroin and crack cocaine has been seized by police after a chance find by officers in Plymouth.

Officers and PCSOs visited a home in Pike Road, Efford, yesterday while looking for a man in his 20s suspected of breaching a court order.

But the routine enquiry turned up unexpected results after one police community support officer noticed a football flag in the window of the garden shed.

When she looked inside the unlocked shed she saw a pile of bin liners and sports bags containing sealed packages.

The packages turned out to contain around three kilos of suspected heroin and crack cocaine which was then seized by police.

A police spokesman said: “The substances will need to be forensically examined but if found to be Class A drugs we will have discovered heroin and crack cocaine with a street value of around £300,000.

“This is an example of excellent police work and a significant find. At this stage we believe we have taken a very large amount of suspected Class A drugs off the streets of Plymouth.”

Police enquiries continue to locate the man in his 20s in connection with the alleged court order offence.
