British Cycling and Sky are celebrating another successful year of delivering cycling in partnership with the Council.

We teamed up in 2012 and since then the Sky Ride recreational cycling programme has had 21,000 sign-ups, with more than 100 people going on to train as lead riders themselves.

In recognition of the achievements made over the last four years, British Cycling has presented us with an infographic as a lasting record.

Sky Ride Local is continuing this summer and there are led rides to suit cyclists of all abilities, from easygoing trips to more challenging adventures. The women’s Breeze programme is also running again.

You’ll be guided by friendly British Cycling ride leaders along routes perfect for you – whether you’re looking to get fit, spend time with the family, discover new routes or enjoy the outdoors.

British Cycling infographicCouncillor Steve Ricketts, our Cabinet Member for Transport and Housing Delivery (pictured on the left), said: “It’s great to be working with British Cycling again this year and I’d really encourage more people in Plymouth to take part in the programme. With such a wide range of rides there’s something to suit everyone and it’s a great way to explore new places, meet new people and get active.”

Brian Johnston, British Cycling’s Recreation Manager for the South West, said: “I am delighted that we are able to continue working with Plymouth City Council to deliver our led ride programmes in 2016. We have seen some great results over the last four years and I am sure we can continue to inspire local people to get out on their bikes.”
