Police appeal after stabbing in Plymouth park

Police are investigating an attempted robbery in Plymouth in which a man was stabbed.

The incident happened in Victoria Park, Millbridge, sometime between 7.35pm and 7.45pm on Sunday 29 October.

The victim, aged 30 and from Plymouth, was walking through the park just before Polruan Terrace. As he approached the steps which lead up to North Road West inside the park, he was approached by a man wearing a black balaclava and gloves.

The offender demanded the man’s belongings but the victim refused. He was then assaulted by the offender receiving three stab wounds; one to his right bicep, one to his front abdomen and one to his back.

The offender then ran back through the park. He left empty-handed.

The victim was taken to Derriford Hospital and has undergone surgery. His injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

A 24-year-old man from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempt robbery and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
